Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited (Paria) appreciates the quick action of authorities in addressing a trespass incident which took place at its operations this morning (Friday April 12th, 2024).

At 9:10 am, the Health, Safety and Environment team was contacted by the Operations department.

They reported that a civilian had been observed at the top of one of the jet fuel tanks.

In accordance with the Company’s Emergency Response protocols, the Trinidad and Tobago Police and Fire Services were immediately notified.

Authorities realized that the civilian had affixed himself to a rope at the top of the tank and was threatening to jump. It appears that he gained unauthorized access to the facility via the perimeter fence in the area. The ambulance service was also contacted, along with the man’s relatives who were on site.

Paria’s HSE and Security teams, working with the Trinidad and Tobago Police and Fire authorities were successfully able to bring the man down from the tank at approximately 10.55am and he is currently in their custody.

Paria extends its thanks to the authorities for their efforts in ensuring all was safe during this

incident.
