At approximately 4.40 p.m. today (Tuesday December 06, 2022), Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited (Paria) operations personnel observed an oil sheen along the western side of Berth no. 5.
The Company’s Incident Command Team was activated, and personnel were immediately dispatched to locate the source of the sheen. A sea survey revealed small areas of oil sheen within the harbour.
Absorbent and containment booms were strategically placed along with mechanical dispersion to contain the sheen and to minimize any potential impact on the environment.
The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries and other regulatory authorities have been notified.
Investigation ongoing to ascertain the source of the sheen and Paria will continue to monitor the sea and on land throughout the night to ensure the situation remains contained.
