Educating Our Youth On Road Safety At Primary And Secondary Schools
Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited is proud to be a Corporate Patron with Arrive Alive.
In 2021, during the Covid-19 period, our collaboration began with a focus on educating schools on the do’s and don’ts of driving, pedestrian crossing and road safety via online zoom platform. We engaged 600 children and parents via two presentations conducted in November and December 2021 at San Fernando East Secondary and San Fernando West Secondary respectively and in January 2022, Marabella North Secondary.
During the period of 23rd May – 13th June 2023, we focused on road safety education to primary schools in the fence line communities of San Fernando, Marabella and Pointe-a -Pierre. Children from Infants to Standard Five (5 – 12 years old) were taught the basics of road safety such as safe pedestrian road use (e.g., safe road crossing, what to do in the absence of sidewalks), best practice for riding bicycles and car passenger safety. 1581 students were taught at the following schools –
- St. Paul’s Boys Anglican Primary School
- San Fernando TML Primary School
- Pointe-a-Pierre Government Primary School
- Marabella Boys AC Primary School
- Marabella Girls AC Primary School
- Cocoyea Government Primary School
