Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited (Paria) is pleased to continue its support and announce its Silver Sponsorship for the Carbon Zero Institute of Trinidad and Tobago (CZITT) National Secondary Schools Climate Quiz Season 3.

Paria believes that good health, safety and environmental performance are key to ensuring a sustainable business and must be considered in all decisions and undertakings of the Company. We are implementing a systematic and educational approach to environmental management by establishing sustainable programmes that will help to reduce the impact on
climate change.

On Monday 6th November 2023, Paria in partnership with CZITT held a one-day interactive workshop for five schools within its fence-line communities to encourage participation in the CZITT National Secondary Schools Quiz Season 3: –

  • Gasparillo Secondary School
  • Pleasantville Secondary School
  • Marabella North Secondary School
  • Marabella South Secondary School
  • San Fernando Central Secondary School

It was an interactive workshop with healthy discussions on climate change from key representatives from NIHERST, EMA, COSTAATT, Ministry of Planning and Development who provided their perspectives and knowledge on climate science, impacts and responses in relation to Trinidad and Tobago.

Another aspect of Paria’s sponsorship is the adoption of the secondary schools during the period November 2023 to May 2024 whereby Paria employees will be volunteering to assist the respective schools in preparation for the Climate Quiz and to develop and implement a sustainable carbon reduction programme.

CZITT Founder, Mr Donald Baldeosingh lauded the efforts of Paria for pioneering this initiative. “This is the launch of a collaboration among CZITT, secondary schools and prominent corporations in which companies direct some of their ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) efforts to raising awareness among the next generation of leaders. The
school is also influencing its community to reduce carbon emissions in the fight against climate change.”

Paria looks forward to fostering our relationship with our fenceline communities through the implementation of sustainable programmes.
