TPHL and its Subsidiary Companies Unite to Restore St. Peter’s Private Primary School Following Devastating Fire

Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited (Paria) proudly announce the completion of restoration at St. Peter’s Private Primary School after the fire that severely damaged its Administration Building and three Standard 5 classrooms on August 28, 2025.

Just nine days ago, the community was shaken by the damage to a school that has stood as a cornerstone of Pointe-a-Pierre since 1983. St. Peter’s School houses more than buildings—it’s a place of learning, laughter, and shared history for generations of TPHL employees and their families.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday 7th September 2025, the Honourable Minister Ernesto Kesar acknowledged the challenge: “With just over a week until classes resumed, we faced a monumental task.” Thanks to the swift, united efforts of Trinidad Petroleum Holdings Limited (TPHL) and its subsidiaries, the school’s reopening on schedule was guaranteed.”

This was a team effort: Heritage Petroleum Company Limited (Heritage) refurbished bungalows to house staff and classrooms, Paria led the demolition process and the furnishing of classrooms, while Petrotrin and Guaracara Refining Company Limited (Guaracara) provided essential maintenance and manpower support.

Ms. Nyree Alfonso, Chairman of Paria, praised the collective effort: “Today we celebrate not just re-opening of buildings, but the tireless spirit of all those who made this possible. To the management, engineers, contractors, teachers, and workers—thank you.” Your dedication and hard work have allowed us to be here today.”

She also highlighted the school leadership’s resilience: “Ms. Medford and the teaching staff have been the backbone of this recovery.”

Minister Kesar summed it up: “I stand here because of the dedication of a small army working around the clock. You exemplify commitment, excellence, and community service.”

On Thursday 4th September 2025, Paria employees led a volunteer effort at the school, reflecting strong community support.

As Minister Kesar said, “Tomorrow, when you enter your new classrooms, you’ll see clean walls and shiny desks. We did this for you. The school is ready. The future awaits.”
